Oracle Feedback
We have received hundreds of responses regarding the Oracle Facts pages over the last year. Some we get from Sybase fans, Most we get from Oracle fans. We want you to know up front that every Oracle fan admits to every issue on the facts pages, even the systems engineering manager from Oracle (see the Response page.)

On rare occasion, an Oracle fan outright denies a point. That happens when the fan has unwittingly accepted an odd redefinition from Oracle's propaganda arm. For example, Oracle changes the definition of null like the State of Mississippi changes the defintion of π. 99% of people who work with Oracle believe that null is not the empty set but rather the set containing empty strings

If you have an Oracle comment or tip you feel would benefit others, e-mail us. Include your name, title, company and location. If you prefer to be known as anonymous, we can post your comment as anonymous but we prefer a real name. We do understand that some companies fear venting their frustrations with Oracle publicly. They are scared that Oracle will punish them by removing their partnership agreement.

We post the truth here. Since it is the truth, then it can be published without fear of libel.

Thank you for that "Oracle facts" section on your WEB-Site! I totally agree with your opinions. I have been working with Oracle for the last 6 months and I also thought, I was just being ignorant about "the most scalable DB in the world". We must support MS SQL Server and Oracle... Everything works so fine and smooth with SQL Server. For things that take 2 hours to solve within SQL Server I need 2 days or more in Oracle...I wouldn't say the system is not friendly, I would say Oracle is hostile, you cannot work with it actually. Working with Oracle brings a lot of frustration and bad productivity. In our team, adding a new feature in our Oracle module is seen as a punishment, something like "no, not again!" :-)
Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I found your gripes with Oracle entertaining. I only developed on Oracle for a year and never found problems that couldn't be worked around. Your level of detail has convinced me that it was a matter of time before I would have been pulling my hair out also.

I found my way into your Bible FAQ and found that excellent as well. I respect the opinions you shared and agree with most points. You're POV is quite unique. I think it is quite similar to mine. I don't tend to disagree with Paul, since I give my own opinions less credibility. Most of us manage to live our faith by simply avoiding the points with which we do not agree. It takes guts to speak out on those points directly. Keep up the good work!

God Bless!
